This in-person training provides experiences to build your confidence in applying EMDR with this population.

EMDR is an effective treatment for PTSD and childhood attachment ruptures. Applying the eight phases of EMDR for the treatment of children necessitates developmental adaptations consistent with the therapeutic principles of play therapy. This workshop will summarize the principles of play therapy and demonstrate applications for all eight phases of the EMDR standard protocol. This will be an in-person workshop with hands-on practicum experiences. Demonstrations will be provided through mock client participation. Supervised experience will be provided during the workshop to include observation and feedback of practicum experiences. Follow-up consultation is available for participants at an additional cost.

Learning Objectives

1. Accurately describe two reasons to modify standard EMDR protocol for child clients.

2. Demonstrate competency in 3 play therapy forms of bilateral stimulation.

3. Demonstrate competency in play therapy modifications to the 8-phase EMDR protocol.

4. Complete a treatment plan using planning tools including resources, preparations, and target sequence plan.
