Advanced EMDR: Attachment Resource Development

Using EMDR with complex trauma clients requires patience and advanced training. Jumping into Phases 3–7 without adequate preparation can lead to negative treatment outcomes. Resourcing is an essential investment in Phase 2: Preparation, particularly when working with children and adolescents in play therapy settings.

Many clinicians report feeling underprepared when applying EMDR Resource Development and Installation within play therapy sessions. This workshop will cover two tracks of resourcing: intentional/directive and responsive opportunities to install resource experiences within play therapy practice, with a focus on attachment-based play therapy interventions.

Participants will learn how to integrate EMDR resourcing strategies into play therapy treatment planning and clinical practice, including the use of developmentally appropriate, attachment-focused play therapy interventions. A structured play therapy checklist, along with an adult resourcing guide, will be provided to support the EMDR Preparation Phase within both play therapy and adult treatment settings.
